For instance, an example, the on-board Airport Navigation System (OANS) was developed together with Thales to be used on the A380 and A350 and is now in use on different Airbus models (A320neo, A330neo, and A350). OANS provides pilots with an overview of the airport's apron as well as taxiways and shows the location of the aircraft on the map. The OANS aids in reducing the chance of errors in surface navigation as well as avoiding runway incursions.
The A380 is also the first to use the 2H/2E system design, in which the conventional three circuits of hydraulics are replaced with two electric and two hydraulic systems in order to reduce weight, increase system redundancy, and ensure security.
An important A380 advancement is using the electronic library, which can mostly replace the documents written on paper that pilots use. This library enables maintenance and flight crews to quickly locate pertinent operational data in various flight guides, logbooks, and lists, as well as allows for an optimization of weight-and-balance calculations and performance.
